OUT & ABOUT IN PUERTO POLLENSA

Location

Puerto Pollensa, one of the prettiest resorts in Mallorca, is situated on a large sheltered bay with sandy beaches, beneath a stunning mountain landscape. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty at the northern most tip of the island.

Atmosphere

The famous ‘Pine Walk’ runs along the shores of the bay from the Ill y d'or Hotel (200m from Bellresguard) to the resort centre. There are many small sandy beaches to choose from, some with small cafes and restaurants right on the water-front. With no roads to cross, it makes a perfect place to spend a day on the beach.

In the resort centre there is a large seafront promenade with small shops, bars and restaurants running alongside more sandy beaches where children can play whilst you eat, drink and soak up the atmosphere.

Exploring

From the Marina, you can take a boat trip to one of the secluded coves and beaches around the coastline, or hire a car a explore the breathtaking scenery and pretty Mallorcian villages. The old town of Pollensa, 5 miles inland has a beautiful church and market square. On Sunday mornings there is a colourful and lively local market.

Cycling

Majorca offers some of the most impressive, demanding and also leisurely rides that makes the island a popular destination right through from amateur to professional cyclist.  Most (including the SKY Cycle Team) base themselves in the north of the island during their stay … and with good reason:

With easy access to the Serra de Tramuntana range of mountains, the popular ride to Cap de Formentor – the most northern point on the island – and the flatter routes going south to Sa Pobla towards Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, the north is the perfect base.

There are a number of cycle hire shops in the Puerto with equipment ranging from the basic right up to professional road bikes.

  • Watersports: available for hire – windsurfers, sailing boats, pedalos, hobby cats, fishing boats, waterskiing, scuba diving, motor cruisers, etc.
